The Southeast of Guizhou Province features its simple and honest people, traditional architectures, unpolluted rivers, ethnic minorities’ villages, and well preserved folk customs.

The peoples here are at home with singing and dancing, whose life is full of happiness and celebrations. As the local saying goes: small festivals everyday to be seen; big festivals are put in between. The ethic groups’ most well-known festivals are Sisters’ Festival, Lusheng (reed-pipe) Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Sama (a female ancestor) Festival, Miaonian (the new year of the Miao nationality), Guzang Festival (Ritual for ancestors), and Chixin Festival (celebration for harvest).

The region is also proud of its superb craftsmanship, including the wax printing of the Miao nationality, which was a tribute to the national court in the Song dynasty; Dongjin (woolen fabric) of the Dong nationality, the embroidery of Miao and Dong peoples, and other clothes and ornaments of strong ethnic characters. All of them share great artistic merits and credibility for collection.
